Effective way to pull a room together

One very effective way to pull a room together is through color. After you have the foundation of your room try to pick an accent color that can be placed around the room so that your eye can "travel" throughout. As you can see in the first picture, there is a robin egg blue dispersed about. It is the arm chair color and then carried onto the coffee table in the glass vase, moves to the sofa in the pillows and if you notice it is also the color of the small box on the side table next to the sofa. Your eye will naturally move around the room and help you achieve a more pulled together look. In the second photo you see the use of a burnt orange. Again, it is the chair then moves to the pillow on the leather chair, and then is used as the throw color on the sofa.

If you want to further explore the use of color combinations it is useful to learn how to use a color wheel. I have found a link that gives good basic overview of the color wheel, and also expands on how color can be used in your home to achieve different looks and feelings. http://www.homeimprovementweb.com/information/paint-color-wheel.htm
